The Academy · Learning that ships
The academy paradox: credentials go obsolete before the loans that paid for them. SAGIE’s answer is older than universities — learn by building, next to people who build.
The inversion
Every room in this ecosystem has the same shape: a real builder, a real problem, a room small enough to matter. No lectures about theory from people who stopped practicing. The teachers are members — operators, founders, investors — and teaching is one of the ways standing is earned here.
The live calendar — sessions, showcase nights, cohorts — lives with Events. The Academy is what those rooms produce: everything taught here, kept here.
Learning compounds the same way trust does: through repetition, in rooms, witnessed.
The library
Sessions are recorded and stay inside the ecosystem. Members also publish series — multi-lesson courses built from what they’ve actually done, taken at your own pace. The catalog is public — playback is membership. That’s not a paywall: access here is earned, never purchased.
The loop
The Academy isn’t a department — it’s the ecosystem circulating what it knows. You learn in a room, you build with what you learned, and one day you’re the one at the whiteboard. Teaching is contribution, and contribution is how access grows.
The SAGIE Letter
Written by a person, read by builders. Never sold, never shared — data privacy is a principle here.
The Seekers room is open
SAGIE membership is earned, never purchased — and it starts in the Seekers room.
9 entries in the library
Scorecards, work samples, and the calibration call — the loop one operator used to hire five without a recruiter.
Positioning, outbound that doesn’t embarrass you, and the first repeatable pipeline — from the founder who sold the first $1M without a sales team.
One member’s product demo, stress-tested by the room — half the learning is watching how builders take questions.
Anchors, floors, and what to trade instead of discounting — walked through on a real term sheet, names redacted.
Turning first PRs into a maintained project — issues, reviews, releases, and the community that keeps it alive. By the member who runs a 4k-star repo.
Shipping OSS documentation live, with the maintainer in the room. Real commits landed before the recording stopped.
The Expert session, taught end to end — scorecards to offers. Learned in a room, built at a company, now on the shelf.
What the first cross-chapter cohort actually did, including the two weeks that didn’t work.
The data room, the pipeline, the weekly rhythm — unglamorous, decisive, and reusable the next round. By the founder who closed a seed in a down market.
